Four Simple Rules

Dalai Lama once said “When educating the minds of our young,we must not forget to educated their hearts” In the book Savage Inequalities, editor Jonathan Kozol  introduces the hardships of those who suffer because of the poorly founded public schools in the United States. Like many Americans living in the United States you have the right to an education that can later help you in the future obtain better job opportunities. There are only four fundamentals rules you should follow in order to have a successful and unique experience in education. The first rule a successful school should have is the necessary books and equipment for each of their students. Second all schools must have professors that will not only teach their students but will touch there there heart. Another rule that is really important is that the students should feel welcomed in their learning environment. Last but most important i think a successful school should have is students who really want to learn and will take advantage of all the resources given to them. I truly believe that if these four fundamentals rules are followed there will be more successful schools as well as successful students there would also be less people in prison or juvenile correctional centers.

School resource matter a lot for example the materials they are given and how many they are given. “A history teacher at the Martin Luther King School has 110 students in four classes but-only 26 books. Some of the books are missing the first hundred pages.”(45)  Having enough material matter all the time no matter the circumstances, i think its always better to have more of something than nothing at all. As a student i think having enough resources to help you be successful motivates a lot. Not having enough resource to help you succeed demoralizes you and also gives you an excuses why you can't be successful. Donating old materials to poorly funded schools can help, we can also donate spare change we have laying around our house and if the whole school does this i think enough money can be raise to buy a classroom set for students to use. The lack of materials in poorly funded public schools can

produce uneducated students because they don't learn as much as others in private schools.

Schools must have professors that will teach their students but will also touch their heart doing so. Teachers should be able to motivate and help overcome any of their students problems. Teachers should be enthusiastic and make their students education unique and fun, they should help them relate what they learn in class and put it  to work in there life.  “Theres so little beauty in my students’ lives. I want these kids to come and find a little space of something pastoral and lovel. If i had a lot of money i would empty out three of those high-rise buildings, put up a fence and build a residential school...Grow some ivy on those walls. I’d call it Hyde Park West.”(87) Having a good relationship with your students is something to consider because later on it will play a big role inside and out of class,this will help your students see you as a friend but at the same time respect you.

Students must feel welcomed in a clean learning environment in order for them to perform. “The carpets are patched and sometimes taped together to conceal an open space...to make up for the buildings lack of windows and the crowded feeling...some of the plants are flourishing.“(104-105) Having a welcomed clean environment is really important because you show your students that you care for them and their health. If  a learning environment is not welcomed and its dirty students will not be enthusiastic to learn or even bother go to class. A class without windows can hurt a student's health specially when the class is crowded and even more in the summer, not having windows in class might also make students feel like there in prison.

The most important part of all four rules to become a successful student  is coming to school with a desire to learn, you can have all of the resources and best teachers in the world but if you have no interest in learning at least give your professor the opportunity to teach you then you will have the opportunity to succeed. There's a lot of people who wished they had the opportunities many of us have but we don't take advantage.

In conclusion i believe that if we follow the four fundamental rules we can all be really successful in our education. We can also help improve schools who don't have much or nothing at all,this problem can be solved but someone needs to step up and take action. We all can make a change or help the cause but speaking out is the only way people are going to listen but how things  look at this point no one seems to care about our future generation, don't forget we are the future.

This blog represents my passion for a sport and people that are very close to me. The team is not just a team, its more like a family, we take care of each other out and in the field.
 Not only do I come to college to get my education but also because I want to prove to my parents that I can become someone successful in life and that all these sacrifices weren't in vain. I hope I learn a lot and not just in English but in everything in general. I hope to pass this class and move forward into my career in school, that will be a step closer to success.
